I am so excited about my little brother tying the knot! I absolutely adore his fiance, Sarah and think they are the perfect match. Last weekend we did an engagement photo session in Old Town and have some beautiful photos to show for it. I love how Sarah laughs and smiles all the time. What a sweet pair.

Leah + Greg | Jefferson Memorial Wedding

Leah and Greg tied the knot last Friday at the Jefferson Memorial in Downtown Washington, DC. It was a gorgeous day and a beautiful ceremony. Leah and Greg kept things intimate with only immediate family attending. Afterwards we traveled the grounds for some beautiful portraits. Congratulations you guys! I hope you are having a blast in Italy!

Congratulations Laura and Jim! I could not imagine a more perfect day. The weather was beautiful and the light was gorgeous for our afternoon portrait session in Old Town. I must confess that I have been excitedly editing away at their wedding photos. I was truly inspired that day by my fabulous bride and groom and the beautiful venues. Let’s take a peek!

Fantastic Details… Laura’s sister actually designed and made her gown! It was stunning and fit Laura perfectly. I loved every little detail… from the blue stitched crinoline to her antique belt, bracelet, earrings and hair clip.

Fun with Bridal Parties… I like to do crazy things sometimes. Nothing dangerous of course, but sometimes to get a great shot you have to pull people out of their comfort zones and have some fun. Here are some cute bridal party shots. Everyone was having a great time and we got some light hearted photos of Laura and Jim afterwards that I absolutely love.

This little guy is getting so big! I love working with babies. Nothing makes me smile more than holding an adorable little bundle of joy in my arms. Especially when they are as good as Cameron! He smiled and worked his baby magic the whole way through his session : ) It is especially sweet when I get to work with couples like Amy and Gary. They have allowed me to capture their engagement, wedding, first daughter Avery and now Cameron’s life. It has been a fun journey.

Noah & Nicolas | Northern Virginia Children Photographer

One and one makes two! These brothers are full of energy and so sweet together. It is great to see Amanda and Jon’s growing family and I feel honored that they choose me to capture these special moments. Our session was a whirlwind of excitement (as you can see in Nicolas’ face… I love those shots!). Noah was so sweet, tiny, and very strong. He is able to lift up his head and look all around already. The photos with the two boys together make my heart melt. Their beautiful blue eyes steal the show and I have to laugh when I see the photo of Nicolas going to give Noah a kiss on his head and it looks like he might take a bite, while Noah has no idea what is about to happen. Sweet moments that will always be cherished. What a beautiful family.

Tank Girl | Northern Virginia Photographer

Yes, tank girl! This is how I got my start… modeling military weapons. Oh no, so not true! This photo was taken by a dear friend of mine, Michael Ives… a very talented photographer from Oklahoma, while we were on a shoot at a “tank farm”. I got my start in the photography biz working with many photographers from all over the country as their photography assistant.

A typical day for me as an assistant… On the shoot day, I would show up at their studio to pack up all their gear. Then, off we’d go to the shooting location. When we arrived, we would scout out locations and I’d start setting up lighting and the million other things we brought with us to make some beautiful pictures. What I loved most about my days were getting to go to places most people never get to see. I have been in the attic of the Smithsonian and seen things not on display… shrunken heads, sarcophagus… I’ve been a mile under the earth in a coal mine, standing knee deep in water holding lighting equipment. There’s a guy over my shoulder reading the dust levels in the air so we don’t blow the place up when the flash goes off. I’ve been on the catwalk at the top of the Verizon Center, on a container ship from China and many many other fun places.

Being a photo assistant was a great way to learn the photography trade and I am so thankful for the many photographers that shared their craft with me.

Almost two | Northern Virginia Children’s Photographer

My little guy is almost two. It’s funny as I am nearing his birthday, I am looking back through the thousands of photos I have taken of him to relive our special times together and see how he has grown. I love that we are able to do so many fun things together and I look forward… although hesitantly I must admit… to the terrible two’s. Every day Benny is saying new words… the latest of which is Elmo and cookie! Life’s necessities for sure. Here is a quick snap of my little guy. I’m one lucky mommy.
